The South Carolina Recovery Fund Board welcomed a uniquely small and furry guest to its latest session: Muffin the Mini Horse. Muffin, a celebrated local therapy horse, trotted into the State Capitol’s Edgar A. Brown Building to provide a delightful dose of stress relief and cheer to the Board members and staff. Muffin the Mini Horse is a registered miniature therapy horse at Hoof Beat Ranch partnered with the City of Cayce Fire Department in South Carolina. She made history as the first therapy horse utilized by a government or city agency in South Carolina. Her team from the Cayce Fire Department and Hoofbeat Ranch showcased how equine programs successfully reduce stigma and aid addiction recovery in the community. The visit highlighted the profound impact of animal-assisted therapy, proving that sometimes the biggest boosts to morale come in the smallest packages.
